Full-Time Lecturer (4/4 Teaching Load): Political Science
The Department of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Howard University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position to begin August 2026. We seek an outstanding educator with a demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and a strong commitment to mentoring and supporting students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Our lecturer positions are assigned on an annual basis with the opportunity for reappointment.
The successful candidate will be prepared to teach a 4/4 course load and contribute to the department’s core undergraduate curriculum. Areas of teaching specialization should include one or more of the following: Research Methods, Black Politics, American Government, and/or Black Political Theory. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can support our growing undergraduate major and contribute to a dynamic, student-centered learning environment.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
· Earned master’s degree in Political Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution (PhD preferred or ABD considered);
· Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching;
· Ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: National Government (American Politics), Black Politics, Black Political Theory and/or Research Methods
· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
· Evidence of commitment to mentoring and supporting diverse student populations.
