Political Science, Public Policy or Related field – Multiple Positions

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Political Science at Iowa State University (Ames, Iowa) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty members at the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidates will conduct research and teach in at least one of four critical areas identified by the University: Climate Science and Sustainability, Critical Materials, Cybersecurity, and/or Human Health Initiatives (i.e. Health Politics and Policy). The ability to contribute to the department’s instructional needs in the areas of American Politics, Global Politics, Research Methods, or pre-Law is a plus.

Responsibilities for this position include conducting research, including participation in multi-disciplinary research teams; mentoring students and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; and providing service to the department, university, profession, and community.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Policy, or related field. The degree must be conferred by the date of appointment

Scholarly expertise in at least one of the following: Climate Science and Sustainability, Critical Materials, Cybersecurity, and/or Human Health Initiatives (i.e. Health Politics and Policy).

Preferred Qualifications:

Research excellence, as demonstrated by a record of high-quality publications and external funding, or by the promise thereof

A research agenda with the potential for multi-disciplinary collaborations

Demonstrated ability in teaching in American Politics, Global Politics, Methods, or pre-Law

Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching and student mentoring
