The 40th Anniversary Meeting Phenomenal!
You ought've been there! The 40th Anniversary meeting was a hit. Once again, we take this opportunity to thank the NCOBPS Planning Team: The Program Chair, Tyson King-Meadows, and members of the program committee; The Awards Chair, James Lance Taylor, and members of the various awards committees; The Local Arrangements Committee Chair, Franklin Jones, and the members of the local arrangements committee; the NCOBPS Executive Council; The APSA, and other volunteers and vendors who worked with us to make this program a success and a worthy celebration of scholars, whose "scholarship, teaching, mentorship and community engagement" have fostered a new generation of scholars anxious and ready to continue to struggle. . . . Special recognition and warm appreciation goes to Menna Demessie!
Menna is a graduate student at the University of Michigan. As a worthy and grateful recipient of the G.A.P., Inc. Scholarship in 2008, Menna wanted to give back to NCOBPS for the 40th Anniversary.
She decided to contact the original founders of NCOBPS, and produce, direct and write a NCOBPS 40th Anniversary Video of the early scholars/pioneers in the field. The promo was fantastic and the video - premiered at the Annual Awards Program Banquet - was exceptional! The video was given to anyone who contributed to the G.A.P., Inc. Fund raising over $1,000. Thank you, Menna!
