PRE-REGISTRATION:
Deadline - Monday, FEBRUARY 16, 2009.
Pre-registration payments (via electronic billing and postal mail) must be received by Friday, FEBRUARY 20, 2009. After February 16, 2009, the conference registration increases by $25.

Elected Positions
Teri Fair, Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Suffolk University in Boston, MA. She was recently elected to Chairman of the Board of Directors for MassVOTE, a nonprofit organization in Boston that promotes voter education and civic engagement.
Michael Leo Owens, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Principal Investigator of Prisoners of Democracy Project at Emory University in Atlanta, GA was recently elected to the Governing Board of the Urban Affairs Association.
Promotions
Juliet Hooker was recently promoted to Associate Professor with tenure at the University of Texas at Austin.
Awards
Dewey Clayton, Professor of Political Science at the University of Louisville received the 2009 Eleanor Young Love Award. The award is given based on principles espoused in the Mission Statement of the Louisville Metro Human Relations Commission. It is the mission of the Human Relations Commission to promote unity, understanding, and equal opportunity among all people of the Louisville Metro area and to eliminate all forms of bigotry, bias, and hatred from the community.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Awards in Health Policy Research funds highly-qualified individuals to undertake broad studies of the most challenging health policy issues facing America. We will award approximately 10 grants of up to $335,000 each to investigators from a variety of disciplines to support projects that combine creative and conceptual thinking with innovative, policy-relevant approaches.
We welcome applications from investigators in the health, social and behavioral sciences as well as other fields. We seek a diverse group of applicants, including minorities, early-career investigators and individuals who work in nonacademic settings such as research firms and policy organizations. Applicants must be affiliated either with educational institutions or with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations located in the United States or its territories. Past Investigator Awardees are ineligible to apply.
